The Formlabs Form 2 and Form 1+ resin 3D-printers are thoroughly tested by the Liqcreate team and are compatible with a couple Liqcreate resins. The Formlabs Form 2 resin 3D-printer is a high-end SLA printer, in combination with Liqcreate resin a perfect solution for the prosumer and professional market.
The Form1+ is open for 3th party resins. We recommend to print Liqcreate Clear Impact on the Clear V3 settings and Strong-X, Hazard Glow, Deep Blue and Stone Coal black on “Grey V3” settings. Layers thicknesses of 100, 50 and 25 microns are supported. The Form2 is open for 3th party resins when used in the open mode. The open mode disable some of the features of the machine and therefor manual refil of the resin thank is necessary. Frequently asked Questions:
Q: How do I use third-party resin on Formlabs Form 2?
A: Go to the printer settings and switch on “open-mode”. Then pour in the resin manually and select the parameters listed above as starting point.
Q: Does Formlabs Form 2 open mode affect print quality?
A: No it does not as these profiles are validated. The printer does stop after 100ml of printing asking for manual refill. this could leave a line on the layer.
Q: Why are settings not supported anymore?
A: Well, the Form 2 dates from 2015 and some machines decreased in UV power, giving lower print quality results. These profiles worked very well a few years after the machine was released. Since formlabs does not give the possibility to increase exposure time, we stopped actively supporting these machines.
Q: Which resins are / were compatible with the Formlabs Form 2?
A: Our range of SLA resins; Strong-X, Clear Impact, Deep Blue, Stone Coal Black and Hazard Glow.
