Resin & 3D-printing parameters for the Phrozen Sonic Mega 8K V2

Phrozen launched a new version of its large scale flag-ship printer the Sonic Mega 8K. Named the Phrozen Sonic Mega 8K V2, it is different from its predecessor as it is packed with extra features. The build platform is exactely the same with dimensions of 330 * 185 * 300 mm. Also a pixel size of 43 microns or 0,043mm is identical. The printer is heavier and has extra functions like:

  • – Pulp & fill function.
  • – Plug-in air purifier.
  • – Fast printing mode.
  • – Integrated resin drip hanger.

The 8K resolution ensures high details on the printed models. The new Phrozen Sonic Mega 8K V2 is an more industrial alternative of the cheaper Mega 8K S printer by Phrozen and is equipped with a built-in resin drip hanger to hang the build plate after you have finished printing. The Phrozen Sonic Mega 8K V2 is equipped with a 405 nm light source and is compatibility with 3rd party 3d-printing resin. Liqcreate would like to thank our partner Neill’s Materials for borrowing the Phrozen Sonic Mega 8K V2 to optimize print parameters. When printed on supports, use Cross grid type raft support structure. These stick better to the build plate. This way it is possible to print with lower bottom layer exposure time, giving less debris in the resin tank when removing the part!

* Flexible and soft resins require at least heavy supports. It is not possible to 3D-print very thin and large objects with flexible resins. Next to that, printing the full buildplate in Z-direction is not possible due to the stretching of the material during printing.

Frequently asked questions – FAQ

  • – Question: What if my prints are not sticking to the build plate?

    • – Answer: Increasing the “Base layer exposure” by 20 seconds. Re-calibrate the build plate if that does not work and try again with +20 seconds base exposure time. If you still run into problems, contact us at info@liqcreate.com and our technical team will provide support.

  • – Question: What if my prints are failing halway a print?

    • – Answer: Check when the print failures start. When this is between the baseplate and the supports or part, increase your transition layers with +20. If that still does not work then increase the exposure time with +1 second. Does the part fail at the support tips, then increase the support tip thickness with +0,1mm. Does the part fail halfway the part or the supports, then increase the exposure time with +1 second. Is this at the adhesion with the build plate, see answer above. Can’t solve it? reach out to us at info@liqcreate.com

  • – Question: How to import print parameters in Chitubox?

    • – Answer: Select the Phrozen Sonic Mega 8K V2 in chitubox and click import these settings. Now all your Liqcreate resin parameters are set in a matter of seconds.

  • – Question: How to import settings for Liqcreate resins on the Sonic Mega 8K V2 with Lychee slicer?

    • – Answer: Unfortunately we do not have prepared settings for Lychee, only for Chitubox. Fill in the settings from the table in this article in your Lychee slicer and save. If you have any questions, reach out to us at info@liqcreate.com.
