Stratasys Origin & Liqcreate join forces with engineering resin

Stratasys Ltd. ,a leader in polymer 3D printing solutions, announced new manufacturing materials across three different 3D printing technologies. Stratasys has rapidly expanded its materials ecosystem to meet the growing demand for additive manufacturing solutions. The new materials include several Stratasys Validated materials, including Liqcreate Strong-X. These materials can be processed on the P3™-based Origin® One 3D printer with an Open Material License.

Stratasys CEO Dr. Yoav Zeif said the expanded material options open up more compelling additive manufacturing use cases for Stratasys customers. “When customers identify opportunities for how polymer 3D printing can transform their manufacturing, we want them to have the confidence that Stratasys has the solutions – that’s what leaders do,”. “With five 3D printing technologies that address the vast majority of the industrial polymer market and an open software ecosystem across the entire digital thread, our growing material ecosystem means customers are getting more materials faster, allowing them to quickly turn their additive manufacturing ideas into reality.”

New Open Exploratory Materials for the Stratasys Origin One

Stratasys also continues to expand the use cases supported by the Origin One 3D printer by giving customers access to novel materials through an annual Open Material License (OML), which Stratasys introduced last fall. Stratasys has identified new materials for the OML program that unlock end-use applications with demanding requirements. Materials developers contributing new open materials to the program include Liqcreate, Covestro, Evonik, Forward AM from BASF, and others. The materials include photopolymer resins for molding, casting, high-temperature, ceramic, electrostatics discharge (ESD), and elastic applications. The materials can be purchased directly from material partners or distributors and are designed for advanced users for testing, development, and end-use parts with exotic or novel properties. Stratasys now provides a progressively managed open-material ecosystem for the industry’s most comprehensive polymer additive technologies, delivering the broadest range of optimized and validated materials.

Stratasys started with optimizing Liqcreate Strong-X on the Origin One printer. The settings of Liqcreate Strong-X can be found here. Technically all other materials can run on the Origin One. If you are interested to work with other materials, please reach out to and our engineers will assist.

About programmable PhotoPolymerization P3™

The Origin team within Stratasys developed P3 programmable photopolymerization technology. According to Stratasys Origin: “this is an evolution of digital light processing, P3 powers the Origin One. The tightly synchronized print process includes pneumatic controls to reduce pull forces during the print process, resulting in exceptional surface quality, without sacrificing speed or isotropy. Coupled with an advanced 4K light engine, P3 enables the highest 3D printed part quality and throughput the industry has seen.”

Liqcreate Strong-X is one of the strongest materials available in the market. Its flexural strength of 135MPa is comparable to industry’s leading dual-cure cyanate ester resins. Liqcreate Strong-X is easy to use on all open source SLA and DLP 3D-printers in the range of 385 – 405nm and only requires UV post-curing. This material has excellent features like high strength, high stiffness and high temperature resistance which makes it ideal for injection molding and heavy duty applications.
